A PandaBuy link to a Taobao item still contains that item's ID, so you can rebuild the address item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=… and buy it elsewhere. Taobao itself (launched 2003, part of Alibaba Group) is China's domestic marketplace. It ships directly to only about a dozen markets, not including the UK or the EU, so most Western buyers still need a shopping agent. At our last check 23 agents were open; several charge no service fee on Taobao items.

Taobao has been expanding direct overseas shipping, but not to the markets where most PandaBuy users live:

If you're in one of the markets Taobao serves directly, try it for simple items. Elsewhere, an agent is still the route, and it adds something Taobao direct doesn't: photos of your actual item before it leaves China.

Verdict: For UK and EU buyers, Taobao still means an agent. Pick one that charges nothing on Taobao items.

Which agents suit Taobao rows best?

Agents price Taobao and Weidian differently, which matters for an old PandaBuy sheet:

  • Superbuy charges 0% on Taobao but 10% (¥10–¥20) on Weidian, per its fee page. A Taobao-heavy sheet suits it well.
  • KakoBuy, HooBuy and JoyaGoo advertise no fee on either.
  • EastMallBuy buys Taobao, Tmall, JD and 1688 but not Weidian.

So the first thing to check in a converted sheet is the platform mix. The converter labels each row; count them, then choose the agent whose fee structure fits.

Verdict: Taobao-heavy sheet: almost any agent. Weidian-heavy: avoid per-item Weidian fees.

Taobao and PandaBuy: not the same company

A word on the name. People also search 'taobao pandabuy' because many sheets were labelled that way, meaning 'Taobao items, PandaBuy links'. It never meant PandaBuy was part of Taobao: PandaBuy was an independent agent run by Hangzhou Panda Technology, and Taobao belongs to Alibaba Group. Taobao is unaffected by PandaBuy's closure.

Three Taobao habits worth keeping

A Taobao order through an agent has one step PandaBuy users sometimes forgot: the seller's domestic shipping. Taobao sellers charge a few yuan to send the item to the agent's warehouse in China, and some offer free domestic delivery above a minimum spend. On a sheet full of rows from different shops, those small charges add up, so it pays to group several items from the same shop into one order.

Three Taobao habits that save money and trouble:

  • Check the variant names. Taobao listings often hide colour and size under Chinese labels; the agent's translation can be rough, so compare the variant photo, not just the text.
  • Look at the shop's rating and sales count on the listing. A shop with years of sales is a safer bet than a new one with a single bestseller.
  • Watch for pre-sale listings. Some items ship weeks after payment; the listing says so, usually in Chinese. Ask the agent if the dispatch time isn't clear.

Tmall, Taobao's branded-store sister, works the same way through an agent and usually has faster domestic delivery and clearer returns between the store and the agent. The converter tells you which of the two a row belongs to.

Verdict: Group rows by shop to save on domestic shipping, and read the variant photos before you pay.

How do I convert a PandaBuy link to Taobao?

Look inside the long PandaBuy link for either an id= number or an encoded url= value. Taobao item IDs are usually 11–12 digits, so take that number and rebuild item.taobao.com/item.htm?id= followed by it; Tmall rows use detail.tmall.com instead. The link converter handles a whole column at once and labels each row's platform. Keep the rebuilt Taobao address as your master copy.

Will Taobao deliver to Britain or the EU itself?

No. Taobao ships directly to about a dozen markets, mostly in Asia, and neither the UK nor any EU country is on that list, according to Chinesellers (May 2025) and Jiyun Global (January 2026). Buyers there still need a shopping agent, which also adds English support and QC photos before shipping. Choose an agent that charges nothing on Taobao items.

Was PandaBuy part of Taobao?

No. Hangzhou Panda Technology ran PandaBuy as a standalone agent that bought from Taobao, Weidian and 1688 for overseas customers. Taobao, launched in 2003, belongs to Alibaba Group and carried on unaffected when PandaBuy closed. Sheets labelled 'taobao pandabuy' simply meant Taobao items with PandaBuy links. Treat the Taobao listing, not the old PandaBuy page, as the thing worth keeping.

Which agents charge no fee on Taobao?

Superbuy charges 0% on Taobao items, per its fee page, but takes 10% (¥10–¥20) on Weidian. JoyaGoo lists 0% commission, KakoBuy shows its fee per item and it's often zero, and HooBuy advertises none, though its terms reserve up to 8%. EastMallBuy buys Taobao but not Weidian. Count the platforms in your converted sheet first: a Weidian-heavy list should avoid per-item Weidian fees.

Do old PandaBuy Taobao links still work?

The PandaBuy pages themselves are gone, but the Taobao listing behind each long link usually still exists unless the seller has removed it. Rebuild the Taobao address from the item ID and check it through an agent; at our last check 23 agents were open. Short pandabuy.page.link codes are the exception and can't be recovered. Convert the long links you have while the listings last.

What about pandabuy.page.link links?

Those short links were built on Google's page.link service, which shut down on August 25, 2025. Unlike long PandaBuy links, they never contained the Taobao item ID in readable form, so there's nothing left to extract. If a sheet row only has one, search the item by its photo on Taobao through an agent, or look for the same find on a current sheet.

Can I pay for Taobao items in my own currency?

Yes, through an agent. You pay the agent for each order in pounds, euros or dollars, and it pays the Taobao seller in yuan at its own exchange rate. That rate varies between agents and can cost you more than a 0% service fee saves. Compare the agent's yuan rate with a market rate on a small test order before placing a large one.
